Why a Business Plan is Important and How to Get Started

4 Oct 2021 2:08 PM | Ali Everhard (Administrator)

Here at Women’s Council of Entrepreneurs we have found both through our experts and through trial and error of our own that planning is one of the most important things you can do when owning your own business. If you do something last minute or on a whim it may work out, but it will never be as successful as it could have been if you planned it out.

This goes for almost everything (if not everything in business). Whether it’s planning your marketing strategy, your social media posts, you email marketing, your texts, the sales you’re running for the month or year, your finances, your retirement…. the list goes on and on.

~ Planning is key ~

WCE is always coming up with ways to make that planning go more smoothly with our downloads. We have our Monthly Social Media Plan Outline, Create Copy for Your ADs WorksheetSocial Media Content Weekly PlannerCreate Your Elevator Pitch WorksheetVideo Content Marketing ChecklistFinance Tracker WorksheetSocial Media Clean-Up Checklist, Startup Cost Worksheet, Setting Goals Worksheetand so many more ~ You the rest in our other Articles!

But, we even with all of those knew we had forgotten something really important. Something that should really be done before you even start your business ~ but can be done (or altered) at anytime in entrepreneurial journey ~ YOUR BUSINESS PLAN!

The SBA gives a great breakdown on why business plans are important in their article 5 Reasons You Need a Business Plan

They state the 5 main reasons to write a business are:

  1. It will help you steer your business as you start and grow
  2. It’s not as hard as you think
  3. It will help you to reach business milestones
  4. It can help you get funding
  5. There’s no wrong way to write a business plan

We couldn’t agree more about the importance of a business plan. Not only do you need a business plan to know what goals you need to achieve, but if you want any funding to kickstart your business no investor or bank will even look your way without a business plan. Writing a business plan seems like a scary and very overwhelming thing to start, but with the right guidance it really isn't. Having your plan paves the way for your business' future which will bring you peace of mind and organization within your business.

With all that said we realized we didn’t have anything for our WCE members and visitors to use to help them with their business plan! So, we knew we had to do a Virtual Workshop on it. On October 14, 2021 Dawn Miller will teach you how to create a simple, one-page plan for achieving success in business!

Dawn will walk you through how to create a plan that is guaranteed to accomplish one goal with simple, effective strategies that offers success in business, life, and more.  This one page plan will help you achieve any goal by implementing up to 3 initiatives with up to five actionable strategies. She will go over the framework for a simple, one page plan that will help you launching your next product, service, event, and even provide a roadmap for a one-year business plan. She'll offer over a dozen prospecting and marketing ideas that you can implement immediately.

Make sure to sign up for that ASAP so you don’t miss out on her FREE business plan worksheet and workbook that she will be using a guide during her workshop.
